I too have moved to the Netherlands 14 years ago.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
Except my parents having been of Fries extraction and I having been brought up English, reading your exploits into Dutch (Fries) society reminds me of when my family and I first came to Friesland to live. I could also think of things that embarrassed us when we tried our Dutch on people and I still continue today now and again to make an idiot out of myself, as English never leaves you, I still think in English. &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
I wish you all the best in your living in the Netherlands and in Friesland.&lt;br&gt;

I too think the people in Friesland are very friendly and are not shy too speak English a plus point I must admit though my Dutch is not perfect but very much improved but am still wary and shy over speaking it.&lt;br&gt;
